DIGISURVOR
Linking digital footprint and survey data for open research

Funded by UKRI Smart Data Research UK, DIGISURVOR is investigating the opportunities and challenges of linking digital trace data (DTD) and survey data as an open research resource. The main purpose of the project is to assess the feasibility of producing open datasets that integrate individual-level survey data with DTD. It will do so utilising existing datasets that combine individual survey responses with two types of individual-level DTD – social media feed content and (domain level) web URLs. DIGISURVOR will seek to generate a range of standardized and anonymized variables from each DTD source that can be linked to survey responses for purposes of secondary analysis. The robustness and value of this augmented data for social science and particularly political communication research will then be interrogated using social statistics, computational methods and relevant communication theories.
